Welcome.  I’m glad you're here.

This website is the latest of the many ways I continue to contribute to the agricultural journalism profession. Much of that activity has been through the American Agricultural Editors' Association ( AAEA) of which I have been a member for 48 years. So you can expect some of my observations to reflect those experiences.

Mr. Fred MyersIf this is your first time and you like what you read, I suggest you then go to the archives and do some catching up.

I know your time is severely limited. Yet, I hope you will take a few minutes every month to visit this site and read what I'm writing to help you succeed in this profession. Or perhaps "survive" is the more appropriate word. That's because these aren't only interesting times, they are also some of the most challenging we have ever seen.

You may find me wandering into thoughts and issues alien to the concerns of most ag journalists. Eventually, however, you will discover I always bring you back and firmly connect you with our profession.

I make my own rules. That is, I say what I believe needs to be said regardless of how many words are required. Also, although I write new material about every month, I don't follow an exact schedule. After all, I do have a life, the only one I will ever have. So I insist on living it as an adventure rather than as per a rigid schedule drawn in a straight line.

Another thing. There is no commercial activity here. I am paying all the expenses to maintain this website. If I do make any commercial mentions, it's always within the context of it being something I sincerely believe you should know or be thinking about.

Finally, please contact me at any time about anything you believe is of concern to ag journalists. I will get back to you ASAP.
